After listening to a TED Talk about Reading Around the World, I am feeling inspired to look into finding children's books from around the world. It didn't take me long to find this great blog:
Delightful Childrens Books
There are some wonderful books here I would like to get and share with my students to help them to learn about the world.
Teaching is Thinking
My thoughts on my teaching practice as well as current issues in the field of education. My hope is that others will "think" along with me and let's talk on my blog.

Using Chatterpix
http://helloliteracy.blogspot.com/2015/01/if-book-characters-made-new-years.html
Check out the new year's post on Hello Literacy. Jen Jones shows a great idea on how to use Chatterpix. This is a free ipad app that is hilarious to use. I used this recently with my granddaughters to make a picture of our pug, Max, talk and we laughed until we cried. I can see many educational uses and Jen Jones provides a great start.

I found a great idea for teaching summarizing!
I was just looking at another blog, Tamara Russel's blog, and saw her
great idea for teaching summarizing to firsties and second graders. I
suggest you hop on over to her blog by clicking on this link and check
it out!

Let's Try This Again
It has been a long time since my first (and last) post. I am always thinking about things that I would like to post on this blog, but the days are just not long enough. I want to try to change that.
I am now a reading interventionist and am learning a lot about teaching struggling readers. I am going to post some of the little tidbits that I am learning and/or think about as I go along my journey. I hope my thoughts will be useful to others also.
If I just post a "tidbit", perhaps blogging won't seem so daunting to me.

My First Post
I have wanted to start a blog for a couple years now and I am finally doing it. I have another blog that is on Edubloggers.com for my classroom blog, but I wanted to have a different blog where I could share information and engage in discussions about education with colleagues and other adults interested in education. This will only work if I get some followers and individuals willing to share their thoughts on the blog.
My blog is certainly a work in progress and I look forward to any and all comments to help this blog evolve. So be sure to tell me what you think. From format, to background colors, font type, and topics--tell me what you think. I am open to any and all suggestions.
Some topics I would like to write about in the upcoming weeks are setting up my new classroom, Feng Shui in the classroom, reading assessments, Daily Five, and the AR program.
Make sure you check out My Blog List. I think I follow some great bloggers that just might have something of value for you to consider also.
Happy 4th of July!
